Potsdam, 27th March 2024 — Komoot can today announce the launch of group Tours, a new feature that allows users to turn any planned Tour into a social adventure. Group runs, rides and hikes can be organized at the tap of a button and shared with a QR code function — even when the activity has already started. Enjoying the outdoors together has never been easier, as both Tour organizers and participants can focus on the trail ahead knowing that everyone is following the same path. And thanks to live route updates, Tours can be changed and re-routed on the go for maximum flexibility during the adventure, with all participants being instantly notified of the route changes.
After creating a Tour with the Route Planner or finding one with the komoot Discover Map, users can now tap “Organize a group hike” — or ride, or run — to generate a QR code that can be shared with those who want to join the activity whenever they’re ready. People can also be invited in-app or via a link.
Participants can then navigate the route from their phone or their Garmin® smartwatch and cycling computer using the komoot Connect IQ™ app, and enjoy the experience at their own pace, with the assurance for both organizers and participants that no one will stray from the planned route.
From mechanical issues to mid-adventure coffee breaks, Tour organizers can replan the route for maximum flexibility on the go. Komoot will send a notification to all participants with an adjusted itinerary, meaning those who might have been delayed taking a mid-hike photo or fixing a puncture won’t get lost and stray away from their companions.

Whether it’s a post-work social ride, a club run or a family hike at the weekend, organizing a shared adventure — or participating in it — has never been more seamless and inclusive. Gone are the days of worrying about keeping up or losing people behind when you lead a group, with everyone able to follow a Tour at their own pace.
Group adventures can be organized no matter the user's Tour privacy settings. If a Tour is set to Private, only those invited can see and navigate it.
Facilitating social outdoor adventures has been one of our goals since our inception and we are proud that our users can now focus on sharing their experiences. Participating in and organizing group activities with their friends and family is now more accessible than ever — with the confidence that everyone will be following the same route.Jonas Spengler, Co-Founder and CPO at komoot, said
